Number Formatting Error in Google Sheets [Comma – Dot Error]

How to change decimal numbers using “,” to “.” separator and vice-versa?

The number formatting in google sheets depends upon its locale settings. To go to the locale settings, you can:

  1. Go To Google Sheets
  2. Click on File > Settings.
  3. Select Locale
  4. Click save & reload

Once you save the new locale settings the google sheet will refresh and the new number formatting will be applied.

For Eg: To use “.” dot format, you can use locale as United States, United Kingdom, India, etc.

To use “,” comma format, you can use “Argentina”, “Germany”, etc.

What to do if the google sheet locale is correct but number format is not?

If you have selected the correct locale and number format is not as expected, then you can simply

  • Select the column. (Or select the entire sheet by pressing (ctrl + click – 2 times)
  • Go to format > number > click on automatic (even if it is already selected).

DigiXport_GoogleSheet_format

This will apply the correct number format to the cell values.

What to do if the data imported via DigiXport addon is not in the correct format?

Most probably the number formatting error will not occur as google sheet will correctly format it.

But if some metrics encounter the formatting error, feel free to report it to us via query feedback
